AREA BEACHES:
You’ll find that you are close to many exceptional sandy beaches when you stay at the Ne’r Beach Motel. We are located in the center some of the best beaches on the Atlantic! You can access all the beaches by the trolley (in season; Memorial Day to Labor Day), biking, or a short car ride. Ne’r Beach Motel is only a ½ mile walk to pristine Moody/Ogunquit Beach. The main Ogunquit Beach, Footbridge Beach and Moody Beach are each sections of the 4 mile stretch of white sandy beach located just minutes from Ne’r Beach Motel. A short 15 minute ride south on Route 1 will also take you to York Beach and York Village.
Just a few miles to the north are Wells Beach and Drakes Island Beach, and just a little further north Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Parson’s Beaches each provide excellent places to enjoy the sun and the surf.
SITE SEEING:
The area provides its visitors with some great sights to see. Some of thes include walks on the famous Marginal Way in Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove, or at the Wells National Estuarine Reserve at Laudholm Farm and the Rachel Carson Preserve, also in Wells. There are trolleys that operate during the summer months that can take you and your family up and down Route 1 along the Maine seacoast. This is a great way to sit back and view it all. At Cape Neddick you can also visit one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world: Nubble Light. Wells also has an Antique Auto Museum and a short drive north will take you to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunk. The area has more sites to see than we can mention here.
RESTAURANTS:
One of the greatest delights in visiting the Southern Maine area is their restuarants. Maine lobster and other succulent seafood dishes are freshly caught and prepared for you in our famous Seafood restaurants on the Southern Coast of Maine. We also have a great selection of steakhouses and a variety of dining options that rival any seacoast area anywhere in the world. Award-winning restaurants can be found in local areas from Kennebunport all the way down to York Maine, in the towns of Kennebunk, Wells, Moody, Ogunauit, Ccape Neddick and York. SHOPPING:
Shopping on the Maine Seacoast is fun and there are many shopping options for you while staying at The Ne’r Beach Motel. From the cozy downtown shoppes in Ogunquit Village all the way up the seacoast on Route 1 to the outlet stores of Freeport, you will have a special shopping experience. A L.L. Bean visit in Freeport is a must. Pekins Cove in Ogunquit is a favorite place to shop. With an diversity of shops and restaurants you can easily pass the day at Perkins Cove with the rocky Maine coastline of Marginal Way as a backdrop. The Kittery Mall and Outlet stores in York are just a short drive to the south and provide a well rounded collection of famous brand factory outlet stores. If you looking for rare and used books or antiques the Wells-Ogunquit area boasts some of the finest used and rare book stores and antique stores on the east caost.
THEATER/MOVIE:
Summer Theatre and Cinema can be found in the area including the world famous Ogunquit Playhouse which features a series of great shows and plays during the summer months. Playhouses in other towns are also available. Wells features a Cinema in the Wells Plaza shopping area with first run movies. Various other theatrcial options available in Ogunquit and in other towns in the area. Enjoy!
GOLFING:
If you are interested in playing golf during your stay at Ne’r Beach Motel, the area has many options. There are several highly rated courses within a short drive that are open to the public. In addition, for those who enjoy mini-golf, there are quite a few mini-golf courses in the Wells-Ogunquit area. PLACES OF WORSHIP:
While visiting the area you may still attend church services in the area. There are several churches in Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and York from which to choose. The churches span most denominations and you should be able to find a place of worship for your particular denomination.
